In 2nd grade, we practice addition and subtraction skills, with and without regrouping-using tens and ones. We also focus on learning time and counting money. We have loads of fun practicing these life skills and you can find additional resources below to practice at home.
We will be using the Envisions Math Curriculum that our district adopted last year. This math includes multiple strategies with higher order thinking questions. Our hope is that students will learn to think about math and explain their thinking to others. This will increase their knowledge of skills and processing.
Practicing addition and subtraction fluency at home will greatly impact your student's math progress. This can be simple games in the car, flash cards, computer games, or apps. ex. "What is 5 + 2?"
Our school computer lab website has a technology blog and also many resources that students are taught to navigate to practice reading, writing, technology, math, and also some fun games.
